COVID 19 Response
March 2020- June 2020
We raised funds to address the most urgent needs of essential food, masks, and feminine hygiene supplies. The relief packages were distributed to the most vulnerable in the area through a network of out young change-makers who belong to the community. Through our immediate network of young people we were able to support people in several other basti, and migrant labour leaving the city with the same supplies.
We also created access to government health services for pregnant women through other CSO initiatives.
June 2020 - Present
With 600+ first generation school-goers enrolled in two government primary schools in the neighbourhood, and either no or extremely limited access to the internet, they were disenfranchised from their right to education.
4 of our young community based change makers began addressing this critical issue with regular engagements with small groups of children. They engaged the children through arts-based methodologies, storytelling, and supporting them with school assignments by bridging the gap of access to internet as well as the connection with their curriculum.
